Privacy Policy
Last updated October 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Autera Health LLC ("Autera", "we", "us") collects, uses and shares information when you visit autera.health, complete our eligibility assessment or register as a provider. Questions: privacy@autera.health.
Information we collect
- Contact details you give us: name, email address, ZIP code and, for providers, phone number, practice name, credential and National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Assessment answers, which include health information: diagnoses, symptoms, symptom duration, treatments tried, and health factors relevant to a blood draw. This is consumer health data under some state laws.
- Technical information: a one-way hash of your IP address, your browser's user agent, the page that referred you, and campaign tags in the link you followed (UTM parameters). We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers on this site.
How we use it
- To assess whether serum tears may be worth discussing with an eye doctor, and to show you your result.
- To contact you about next steps, including matching you with a partner eye doctor near you.
- To verify and onboard eye care providers.
- To decide where to launch and to improve our services, using aggregated or de-identified information.
- To protect our site against abuse and to comply with law.
We collect your assessment answers only with your consent, which you give on the assessment form. You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing us.
How we share it
We do not sell your personal information or your health information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
- Service providers that host and operate our website and databases, and send email for us, under contracts that limit their use of your data to providing services to us.
- Partner eye doctors and pharmacies, only when you ask to move forward with an exam or treatment and only what they need to care for you.
- Legal and safety: when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
- Business transfers: as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
HIPAA
Information you submit through this website before you become a patient of a partner provider may not be protected by HIPAA. We protect it with the safeguards described here regardless. Once you receive care, your partner eye doctor and pharmacy handle your medical records under their own HIPAA obligations.
Security and retention
Data is encrypted in transit, stored in access-controlled systems, and available only to staff who need it. We keep assessment and registration information for as long as needed to provide our services, and for up to 24 months after our last contact with you unless you ask us to delete it sooner or the law requires us to keep it longer.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information, or to stop contacting you, by emailing privacy@autera.health. Depending on where you live (for example California, Connecticut, Nevada, Virginia or Washington), you may have additional rights, including rights specific to consumer health data. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law. You can also unsubscribe from any email we send.
Children
Our services are for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new "last updated" date, and notify you of material changes where required.
